Verse of the Day part II (a NCC of Spencer Blog)

"Delight yourself in the LORD and HE will give you the desires of your heart."
Psalm 37:4
Okay, so if I (who am small and weak) delight myself in the LORD (who is all powerful and all knowing), then I can have whatever I desire?! No. Well, not in the way that the world thinks. So, I can't desire that someone dies a slow and painful death. That wouldn't happen, because then I definitely am not delighting myself in the LORD. I'm delighting in my sadistic desire for someone's death.
So, what does The LORD mean when he says "Delight yourself in ME"? the dictionary defines "Delight" as a high degree of pleasure or enjoyment; joy; rapture (www.dictionary.com). So, delight in the LORD, we know what delight means, but what does it mean to do so in the LORD.
To me it means that no matter the circumstance I still have a reason to be joyful and happy. So, even if my dog dies or my parents divorce or we all die from getting eaten by dinosaurs, I still have a reason to be happy. Because the LORD tells me to take my strength from HIM and my joy from knowing that I have a Savior.
Now, heres the best part. Because I have done as the LORD has asked me (delighting in HIM and not in the "delights" of this world) I get to have the desires of my heart. The desires of my, personal, heart? Becoming famous and changing the world. Big desires, right? Wrong. GOD can give me anything (except the sinful parts of this world, like asking for the sadistically slow death of an enemy) I ask for. Another verse says that if I have faith like a mustard seed I can move mountains. It is all in whether I have faith or not. I believe that I can do all things through CHRIST who gives me strength. There is nothing that GOD can't do.
So, whether you want a new bike or you want to move mountains believe that if you DELIGHT in GOD that HE can give you the desires of your heart.
